Y-Not Festival

REALLY looking forward to the Y-Not Festival at the start of August (5-7).

Although unfortunately a little late, we’re delighted to be involved in a PR capacity with what is clearly a quality event in the Peak District. 

Having organised our own festival and ran PR campaigns for others, you really appreciate just what goes on behind the scenes to get it on.

And the line-up for its size is very impressive.

Maximo Park , Feeder and The Go! Team headline each day with Viva Brother (still can’t get used to that), Miles Kane, The Rifles and The Duke Spirit among 80-odd bands.

Old friends from previous bookings of our include Dinosaur Pile-Up, All The Young (New Education when we booked them) and Dananananakroyd (during our association with The M Club).

We’ve got Troops on at The Box on that Friday so I don’t know who is doing what yet.

Hats off to the organisers tho, looking forward to catching up at the event.

And over the next couple of weeks, we’ll try and push the PR across Cheshire and Staffordshire as it closes in on a 5,000 sell-out.

Join us there.

AS we plan our Freshers shows at The Box, it’s suddenly hit home that our third anniversary is almost here.

Probably fitting that Troops of Mafeking will headline almost to the day we started all this back in 2008.

Having just completed work on Crewe Live ’08, Volume were providing PR for businesses in Cheshire and festivals including Indieco Sunday Social in Shrewsbury when an opportunity came along that would change our fledging operation.

While we’d already staged a couple of gigs at The Box, this was the start of helping to build a venue from scratch – including the introduction of a regular Friday night that we still run today.

It all kicked off with Sgt Wolfbanger, Sounds Like Lazer Fire and The Almost Super Heroes – Last Man Down didn’t make it on August 9.

As we look to take The Box forward and enter a new phase for Volume PR, think it’s an appropriate first post on our new blog.

So cause for celebration with the Troops, one of the survivors of that initial era.
